Power Pizza: Naming Conventions

We are in the middle of a Power Pizza Blog Series! I am walking through lessons learned while building a Power App to track your Pizza Crawls. This will allow your friends to submit their locations, enter ratings and view the winner. Finally, a scientific solution for finding the best pizza!

Paris Pizza
This was not part of the Pizza Crawl but it sure was delicious! This was at Chez Pippo in Paris!

One of my major lessons learned from this project was that I need to be better with my use of naming conventions. I thought I carefully planned the architecture out with the following entities:

  • New Publisher for solution with prefix: pizza_
  • Event Tracking Entity: Pizza Party
  • Location Entity: Pizza Location
  • Rating Storage Entity: Pizza Rating

Notice anything?

I found while getting deeper into the project I was typing Pizza a bit too much. It was also a bit confusing when there are Pizza Locations linked to Pizza Ratings and that field is also called Pizza Location.

Learn from my mistakes – use unique names! Also don’t make apps about food that you work on while hungry.
